How do I submit an abstract for the SME Annual Conference & Expo?

You can submit your abstract by visiting Abstract Submission and select submit abstract.

Do I need to be a member of SME to submit an abstract?

You do not need to be a member of SME to submit an abstract.

When is the deadline to submit abstracts?

Abstracts for consideration are due August 1, 2017.

Can I submit an abstract if it has already been published or presented elsewhere?

No.

What is the word limit for an abstract?

We ask that you keep your abstract to 100 words.

What is the page limit for a manuscript?

Manuscripts should not exceed 10 pages.

Is a Copyright Transfer Form (CTA) required for abstract or manuscript submission/acceptance?

We do not need copyright assignment on abstracts. If accepted, you will be asked to sign copyright assignment for the manuscript.

When will I be notified of my abstract acceptance status?

Acceptance or otherwise will be sent out in September 2017.

How do I withdraw an abstract from the program?

You may edit/remove/cancel your abstract by login into your account on the abstract submission site. It is also helpful to inform your session chair of your withdraw.

Does SME subsidize travel expenses or offer travel stipends for presenters?

SME does not cover travel expenses or registration costs for presenters.

When will abstracts be available to the general public?

Abstracts will be available online in October 2017.

My abstract/manuscript has been accepted for publication, do I need to withdraw my abstract?

No, the abstract is what conference attendees will use to determine what sessions/presentations they will attend.

Do presenters have to register for the conference?

Yes, all presenters are expected to register and pay for the conference. SME does offer a discounted speaker rate.

How will I know that my abstract has been successfully submitted?

An email will be sent to the email address listed for the primary author. If someone else submitted the abstract for you and used their email address they will receive the confirmation.

May I submit multiple manuscripts/abstracts at the same time?

No, each submission must be done separately.
